The WoW Guru Patcher is a vision we at WoW Guru thought up many months ago. We had originally released a version back around July of 2005 which was soon abandoned as the developer could no longer update it. For the past three months we have been working continously on bringing you a new system, a better one, one of which we can be proud to post our name to it.

After much work by both our application developer and the website team, we are proud to bring you the newest revision of the WoW Guru Patcher!

• Windows XP / 2000
• .NET Framework 1.1 (Bundled with the "complete" package)

• Complete (with .NET Framework 1.1)
• Lite (without .NET Framework 1.1)

If you receive an error, we ask that first, you attempt to delete all .XML directly inside the root or your Interface/ folder (They're all Mod Name.xml). If this does not solve the error please continue with contacting us via via the forums or our contact form.

• Presents you with the latest news from UI hosting sites and WoW Guru
• Allows you to keep your mods up to date with the latest version available from WGP Hosts who have taken the time to enable WGP Updates on their site. More Information
• Allows you to download new mods from any WGP Hosts who have taken the time to enable WGP Updates on their site. More Information
• Allows you to uninstall any mod installed via the WoW Guru Patcher
• Allows you to easily submit data to WoW Guru, including data collected with the WoW Guru Data Collection UI mod.
• Allows you to install new mods from any WGP Hosts who have taken the time to enable WGP Downloads on their site. More Information

One of the primary functions of the WoW Guru Patcher, is collecting various data from World of Warcraft and submitting it to the site. By default this option is turned off. To turn it on simple open the options, and click the "Enable Data Collection" box. You will be asked if you also want to install the mod (which provides additional features, including profiles).

If you are interested in volunteering some time to help with the project, we encourage you to contact us. The program is developed in VB .NET and you will need to be familiar with .NET in order to assist.

Hosts which have enabled WGP Updates have taken the time to make their site compatible with our XML listing system. This allows this site to be used for file updates and also adds their files to the file list in the AddOn Management dialog.

Hosts which have enabled WGP Updates have taken the time to make their site compatible with our WGP protoocl system. This allows users of the site to download and install any file from the site through the patcher with a click of a button.

So you want to be become an official file host for the WoW Guru Patcher?

There are two types of hosts:

• Download Hosts: Becoming a download host is the easiest method to participate in the program, and requires no approval from the administration team. Download Hosts operate just as they normall would, the only change they need to make is adding one (preferably two links) their page. The first link being the wgp:// download link, which is formatted as wgp://www.domain.com/path/to/mod-file.zip&wgpName=Mod+Name&wgpVer=1.0. The second link, which is optional but preferred, simple links to this page so users who are unfamiliar with the protocol can learn about it, as well as download the application. More Information
• Update Hosts: Becoming an update host is a bit more complex. You will need to setup an XML feed similar to our XML feed and then contact us with the details of your website, and a link to the XML feed.

The WGP Protocol works much like the standard HTTP protocol. It's used to interact with the program by telling it where to download a file, what that file is called, and what the version of that file is.

The standard link looks like the following: wgp://www.domain.com/path/to/mod-file.zip&wgpName=Mod+Name&wgpVer=1.0.

Things to remember:

• The wgpName and wgpVer variables are required
• Make sure your wgpName and wgpVer variables have been encoded for URL translation. (e.g. PHP's urlencode() function)
